Retailer Registration in the Tourist Refund Scheme
  • Service Description
    Through this service, the FTA in cooperation with Planet (the service provider for the Tourist Tax Refund Scheme), enrolls VAT-registered retailers in the Tourist Tax Refund Scheme to enable tourist customers to obtain a refund of the VAT paid to the retailer.

    5 Minutes.

    11 business days from the date the completed application was received.
  • Required Documents and Forms
    • Tax Registration Certificate.
    • Trade Licence.
    • Power of Attorney (where the authorised signatory is not named on the Trade Licence).
    • Collateral in the form of either a security cheque or bank guarantee in favor of Planet Tax Free LLC.
    • Signed Services Agreement.
    • Specimen of the signature of the signatory.
    • Signed credit check consent form which authorises Planet to request a Credit Report.

  • FAQs

    1. Can a cash deposit be provided in place of a cheque for the collateral requirement?

    Collateral will only be accepted in the form of a security cheque or bank guarantee.

    2. How to amend the registration in the Tourist Tax Refund Scheme?

    This can be done by clicking the link received by e-mail after submitting the initial registration application.

    Alternatively, an e-mail can be sent to Merchants@planetpayment.com for further assistance.

    3. What if the Credit Report is unsatisfactory?

    Planet will request proof of clearance of bounced cheques to proceed with the registration.

    4. How can the registration in the Tourist Tax Refund Scheme be cancelled?

    An e-mail should be sent to merchants@planetpayment.com mentioning the applicant’s Tax Registration Number (TRN) in the subject.

    5. After successful registration, can more stores be added?

    This may be done by sending an e-mail to merchants@planetpayment.com if the store belongs to the same TRN, attaching a copy of the Trade License.

  • Terms & Conditions
    1. The applicant must be registered for VAT with the FTA and hold a valid TRN.
    2. The applicant must regularly and punctually file all its tax returns, and has no outstanding due tax or penalties.
