Amendment of Tax Agent Records

    Use this service to update your tax agent registration records available with the FTA such as passport, Emirates ID, Residency permit, contact details etc.

  • Estimated Time to Complete Application by the FTA
    Generally, estimated time to complete the application by the FTA is 20 business days from the date the completed application was received. However, in case where any additional information is needed FTA may take additional time to process the application. The applicant needs to provide the additional information and re-submit the application. It may take the FTA a further 20 business days to respond to the updated application. If the application is not resubmitted within 60 calendar days from the date you received the notification from FTA, the application will be auto rejected.

    Required documents:
    It will be necessary for you to prepare the following information in an appropriate format and include it in your online application:
    To update Emirates ID, a scanned copy of your Emirates ID 
    To update passport, a scanned copy of your valid passport
    To update your Residency Permit, a scanned copy of your Residency Permit
    To update your Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII), a scanned copy of a PII that includes the tax agent’s name or tax agent approval number (TAAN).
    To update your address, a scanned copy of a valid address proof

    Accepted file types are PDF, JPG, PNG, Excel and JPEG. The individual file size limit is 5 MB.

    1. Who can submit the application?
    The application can be submitted by you (registered tax agent).

    2. Can you renew your tax agent registration through the amendment of tax agent records service?
    The Amendment of tax agent Records service does not cover tax agent registration renewal. There is a separate online application for tax agent renewal in EmaraTax.

    3. What changes can be submitted as part of the Tax Agency amendment application?
    Details of the applicant: Identification details (new passport, Emirates ID, Residency permit, supporting documents, Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) details)

    4. How can you delink your tax agent account from a tax agency?
    You (the tax agent) can initiate the delink from tax agency through the delinking of tax agents service. The tax agency has to accept your delinking request post which you will be delinked from the tax agency. 
    The tax agency to which you are linked to can also initiate a delinking of tax agent. In such a case, you need to accept the delinking request post which you will be delinked from the tax agency.

    5. Can you submit another application when an amendment application is in progress?
    No. In case where an amendment application is in progress, you will not be allowed to submit another application.

    6. What will happen if you submit invalid Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII)?
    If the Professional Indemnity Insurance of the Tax Agent is invalid, your application will be rejected by the FTA.

    7. What will happen on expiry of the mandatory documents (PII, Emirates Id, Passport, Residency Permit) that are part of your tax agent registration records with the FTA?
    On expiry of any of the mandatory documents, your Tax Agent Approval Number (TAAN) will be suspended, and your details will be removed from the Tax Agent Register. You will not be allowed to operate as a Tax Agent. You will be delinked from the Tax Agency and the Taxpayers you are linked to. Hence you need to ensure that your tax agent registration records with the FTA are always valid. There will be reminder notifications sent to your registered email address/verified mobile number. 

    8. Where in EmaraTax account to check the correspondences/notifications sent by the FTA?
    The correspondences/notifications sent to your registered email address/mobile can be found in the "My Correspondences" section in your EmaraTax account.

    9. Can I save the application as a draft to be updated later? If yes, for how long?
    Yes, you can save the in-progress application (as a draft) and complete it at a later point in time. However, if you do not submit your application within 60 calendar days of initiating it, your application will be automatically cancelled. There will be reminder notifications sent to your registered email address/verified mobile number.

    10. What will happen once the application is submitted to the FTA?
    Processing your application:
    1. Your application will now be reviewed by us. If we require more information to assist with our review, we will contact you by email. You will need to provide the information requested for us to continue processing your application. 
    2. Once we have completed our review, we will either approve or, in some cases, may have to reject the application. We will notify you by email of our decision.
    3. Where we reject an application, we will provide you with the reasons for doing so. You may re-apply but only once you have resolved the matters brought to your attention. 
    4. Following approval of your Tax Agent registration amendment application, 
    You can download your updated ‘Tax Agent Listing in Register Certificate’ from your EmaraTax account. Your Tax Agent records will be updated in the FTA website.
    Your tax agency’s registration certificate will also be updated. The tax agency can download the updated ‘Tax Agency registration certificate’ from their EmaraTax account.

    11. What is the estimated time to complete application review by the FTA?

    12. How to check the status of the submitted application with the FTA?
    To review the status of your submitted application, click on the dashboard tab and look next to Status:
    Drafted - the application form has not been completed or submitted by the applicant
    In Review - the application form has been received by FTA and is under processing
    Awaiting Information - FTA is awaiting additional information from the applicant
    Rejected - the application form has been rejected by the FTA
    Approved - the application form has been approved by the FTA and that your tax records have been successfully updated
