Federal Tax Authority

Business Advisory Groups

In line with international best practices that promote transparent and constructive engagement between tax administrations and taxpayers, and guided by its vision to be a “world-leading tax authority”, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) is committed to collaborating with the UAE business community, thereby supporting the continuous development of the tax system and the enhancement of taxpayer services.

In this context, the FTA established Business Advisory Groups (BAGs) to strengthen engagement with the business community and benefit from its practical experience, views, and feedback on tax administration and FTA services, thereby contributing to improving the taxpayer experience and promoting voluntary tax compliance.

Purpose

Mandate

BAGs provide a structured framework for identifying and discussing practical matters affecting the implementation of the tax system and presenting recommendations that support the FTA’s efforts towards the continuous development of taxpayer services, processes, guidance, and communication channels.

What the Group does

Objectives

Business Advisory Groups aim to:

1

Support the FTA’s strategic priorities in developing a more efficient and competitive tax system.

2

Strengthen dialogue and sustainable collaboration with taxpayers by providing opportunities for them to share their practical experiences and feedback on the application of tax requirements and digital services.

3

Identify opportunities to simplify processes, and improve taxpayer services and communication channels.

How it runs

Operation of the Business Advisory Groups

The FTA normally convenes two meetings per year for each Business Advisory Group, with additional meetings held where necessary. The Groups comprise senior representatives with relevant experience in tax matters and compliance procedures, while seeking balanced representation that reflects the diversity of sectors, business sizes, and the nature of their activities.

Members are invited to propose topics for discussion, which the FTA reviews when preparing the meeting agenda. Meetings are interactive and focused on outcomes, drawing on members’ experience, and their minutes and key outcomes are published on this page.

Tax Agents Advisory Group 17 members Expand Collapse

The Tax Agents Advisory Group provides a structured engagement channel between the FTA and registered Tax Agents.

Tax Agents have regular interaction with Taxpayers and experience FTA processes and can therefore provide valuable insight into recurring Taxpayer questions, practical compliance challenges, administrative processes and areas where additional clarity or service improvement may be beneficial.

The Group enables Tax Agents to raise matters of wider or systemic relevance, share practical obserVATions and contribute to discussions aimed at improving Taxpayer experience and supporting voluntary compliance.

The Group is not a channel for resolving individual client cases or for obtaining positions on specific taxpayer facts. Such matters must be addressed through the appropriate FTA services and formal channels.
